Here's the next part. I hope I can keep everything straight that's going
on at this party. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Destine and Sinbad walked down the stairs and into the hallway that
lead into the foyer. They heard voices inside and hung back a little so
they could just slip in with the two new guests. One Destine
recognized as Iphicles, the other man she had never seen before.
~Oh, this is so silly,~ she thought to herself, ~I'm just going to go a
head and go in, no sense standing around in my own home.~ So she
pulled on Sinbad's hand and brought him out to meet the two men.
After the introductions were made they walked into the main ball
room.
The ball room looked beautiful, well, as beautiful as it could look with
fake spider's webs draped about the room in strategic spots and
candles giving off an errie glow. It was a Halloween party after all
Destine had to remind herself. She saw many of the other priestesses
already there.
She saw Kiari over by the buffet tables listening to another version of
the Joxer song. Jenni, Hercules, Ped and Draco stood in a group near
the bar. And some blonde woman with Caesar was doing body shots.
~I wonder if Kim knows that someone else learned her trick?~
Destine thought idily as she looked toward the bar. ~Wait, that *is*
Kim! What did she do to her hair?~ she thought in shock as she
noticed her friend. ~Well, she pulls it off well, no matter what
happened to it~ As she scaned the dance floor she saw Zelena and
Cecrops taking a turn about the floor and enjoying it from the looks of
it. She was about to look around some more when she saw Sinn
approach her and Sinbad. Dread swelled her throat shut, suppose
they didn't want him here? What was she going to do then?
Sinn came up and hugged her and her fears vanished. "Glad you made
it," Sinn said.
"I'm glad I could make it too, Sinn. I wouldn't have missed it. I guess I
should introduce you to my date," Destine said with a smile and
gestured towards him, "This is Sinbad. He's an old, uh, friend."
"I'm pleased to meet the High Priestess of Cupid's Temple. It is an
honor," Sinbad said as he bowed low in front of Sinn.
"Glad to meet you and I hope you have a good time. I hate to run off
so soon, but I need to speak with Jenni. Will you excuse me?" Sinn
asked.
"Sure. I can always talk to you later," Destine replied.
She watched as Sinn went to Jenni at the bar, said a few words to
her, and then they walked out on the balcony together. ~What has
been going on while I was in my room? I hope everything's ok.~
"So, are we going to stand in the doorway all evening, or are we
going to dance?" a voice whispered in her ear.
Destine snapped out of her thoughts and smiled at Sinbad. "I thought
you'd never ask."
Just as Sinbad started to lead them to the dance floor Destine caught
sight of Ares comming toward her....and he didn't look happy.
"Uh-oh. We're in trouble,"
