The Halloween Party at Cupid's Temple

Back to the party

Date: 11/6/97

A warm breeze wafted through the trees to find the two lovers still twined together on the bank of the brooke. They lay in each other's arms, watching the play of light and shadow across the water, and thought about how lucky they were to be together in such a magical place. As content as they were, they both knew they would have to go back to the party soon before anyone started to miss them.

Destine heaved a great sigh and began to untangle herself from Sinbad's arms. "Come on, we have to get back." Sinbad's response was to hold on to her even tighter. Destine shot him an impatient look and he slowly released her.

"Why do we have to go back? I doubt anyone has even missed us. We could stay here all night and no one would be the wiser," Sinbad stated as he watched Destine begin to move about in the semi-darkness searching nearly in vain for her clothes. He thought she looked beautiful in the moonlight. Her skin looked like the finest porcelain and her hair was as dark as the night sky. She looked almost goddess-like. He was transfixed by the picture she presented to him.

He was still a little dazed as she walked over with most of her clothes in one hand. She held out the other to him. "Come on," she repeated, "We have to get going."

Sinbad grabbed her hand....but to not help himself up as she had intended. He pulled her down so she was laying full length on top of him.

"Are you so sure you're in a hurry to get back?" Sinbad asked as he began to rub his hands up and down her still bare back.

"Well, yes, we do need to get back," Destine said half-heartedly as he started to nibble on her neck and then her ear. Destine shivered as he gave up on nibbling on her ear and instead proceded to rain kisses down the side of her neck and then across her shoulders.

"Ok," she sighed, "maybe we can stay a little longer."

Sometime later they finally found the motivation to get dressed and head back to Cupid's temple. They walked around to the balcony and made their way through the doors. A small measure of chaos greeted their eyes. The newest priesstess Amethysta was standing in front of a very ticked off looking Ares. He was holding a peacock feather in his hand. At his side stood Kiari, she also looked upset.

"I wonder what's going on?" Sinbad whispered in Destine's ear as they made their way further into the room.

"I have no idea, but let's find out," she suggested, whispering back. Sinbad nodded his agreement. Both of them looked around the room trying to find the best person to talk to.

"Why not your friend Kim? She's likely to know what's going on. I don't think she's so drunk she wouldn't know what was going on,"

"Good idea, let's go talk to her,"

They made their way around the perimeter of the room, trying not to be noticed. Luckily Kim and Caesar weren't engaged in their favorite activity of body shots at the moment. As they finally reached Kim and Caesar, Kim flashed a grin at them.

"Didn't think the two of you would be making another apperance at this party," Kim said, still smiling.

"Well, we would have been back sooner but we got busy with other things," Destine said with a smile of her own.

"So, what's going on with Ares?" Sinbad asked, he was in no mood to elaborate.

"Well, the newest priestess just brought Ares a message from Hera. He now figures that Amethysta is working with her and against him," Kim explained.

"On top of that, Ped is also missing, that's why Kiari's upset," Caesar added.

"Great, and I thought this party was going to be *normal* from here on out," Destine said.

"Well, what do you expect from us though? Nothing is *ever* normal where we're involved," Kim said said with a laugh.

Destine was about to say something else when Ares grabbed Amethysta by the arm and they disappeared in a puff of smoke.

"That is *not* a good sign," Kim stated with a touch of worry threading through her voice.

"No kidding. Ares doesn't have the best of tempers," Destine agreed still looking at the spot that Ares and Amethysta had just occupied.

Destine had half expected one of the three others from the group to make another comment but as she turned back to face them they were staring at her.

"What?" she asked, a little worried about why they were looking at her that way. All at once they all busted out laughing. This really had her worried.

"What?" she asked again.

"Destine, what is that in your hair?" Kim asked, still on the verge of laughing again.

"Where? What are you talking about?"

Kim reached up and took something from her hair. Something that looked suspiciously like moss. A flush slowly began to creep up her face.

"So, is that where you got busy when you ended up busy with other things?" Caesar asked in a nearly hysterical fit of laughter. Destine just turned an even deeper shade of red. She looked toward Sinbad who was trying not to laugh at her as well.

"Ok, sure, all of you laugh at me," Destine said in mock anger. "See if I care."

"Ok, we will," exclaimed Kim as she busted out into a fresh gale of laughter. In the end even Destine had to join in because it was just her luck to get caught with her hand in the cookie jar, so to speak.

Suddenly they all sobered up. "I wonder what happened to Amethysta and Ped?" Sinbad asked.

"I'm sure we'll all find out soon," Kim said.
