OK, sorry all, this one's pretty lame, but we need to wrap this up, so here's my attempt! If anyone has anything they still wanted to post, feel free...
The bartender pushed yet another shot across the bar towards them. KimD looked at him suspiciously. "Enough shots already! Sheesh! I only really wanted to do the one at the beginning of the night to get things started, and now we've each had five!"
Caesar grabbed the shot. "I'll do this last one, but no more after this, OK?"
"Fine, whatever you say."
As soon as Caesar finished taking the lemon from KimD, they turned to hear Ares shout, "Hera!" Then there was a commotion on the other side of the room. Then KimD was able to make out the words "Ped" and "disappeared." She was immediately concerned. She turned to Caesar. "It sound like something is wrong. I'll be right back." KimD walked up to Kiari. "What's going on?"
Kiari shrugged. "I really don't know, but I'm worried." She explained everything that had just happened to Kim.
KimD shook her head. "Oh brother. What a night." She took Kiari's hand and gave it a squeeze. "Ped's going to be OK. I can feel it. And I'm sure Ares will work out whatever is the problem with Hera." She then headed back to the bar where Caesar was standing. As she was explaining the situation to him, Destine and Sinbad walked up.
"Didn't think the two of you would be making another apperance at this party," Kim said, still smiling.
"Well, we would have been back sooner but we got busy with other things," Destine said with a smile of her own.
"So, what's going on with Ares?" Sinbad asked.
KimD told them about Ares' message from Hera.
"On top of that, Ped is also missing." Caesar added.
They chatted for a few more seconds when Ares grabbed Amethysta by the arm and they disappeared in a puff of smoke.
"That is *not* a good sign," Kim stated with a touch of worry threading through her voice.
"No kidding. Ares doesn't have the best of tempers," Destine agreed still looking at the spot that Ares and Amethysta had just occupied.
As worried as she was, KimD couldn't help but notice something in Destine's hair and laugh. At Destine's confusion, Kim proceeded to pull out the moss from Destine's hair and teased her with it.
After everyone had a good laugh over Destine and Sinbad's previous whereabouts being given away, things turned serious again.
"I wonder what happened to Amethysta and Ped?" Sinbad asked.
"I'm sure we'll all find out soon," Kim said. Then she noticed Xena and Ephiny talking near the door. She turned to Destine and whispered, "Will you please keep Caesar's attention for a bit?"
"Certainly, why...?"
"Thanks, I have something to take care of before the night is over." Kim turned to Caesar. "Julius, I'm going to go see if anyone knows anything. Do me a favor and hang out here with Destine and Sinbad."
"I can go with you."
"No, I'll be right back. Promise." She gave him a quick peck on the mouth. "Have a drink of anything but tequila while I'm gone."
Destine got Caesar's attention and casually walked around him so that to face her, he had his back to the rest of the room. "Caesar, I've been wanting to ask you for a long time..."
Kim mouthed thanks to Destine and headed across the room. She approached Ephiny and Xena cautiously. "Hi."
Xena just raised a suspicious eyebrow. Ephiny smiled and hugged her. "Urbana, it's good to see you."
"Here I don't go by the Amazon name my mother gave me, I go by the name of the parents who raised me."
"Oh yes, Kimdulina, I forgot."
"Kim or KimD is fine. So, how is my mother?"
"She misses you. She asked me to give me her love if I saw you tonight."
"And has my father bothered the Amazons since I've left?"
Ephiny sighed. "No, when you left, the attacks stopped. But that does not mean you cannot visit once in awhile."
"Tell her I will visit soon."
Ephiny smiled. "She'll be happy to hear that."
Kim turned to Xena and held her arm out in greeting. "Can we start this evening over? I don't know what came over me earlier, and I'm sorry. Actually, I do know what came over me..."
Xena smiled and took her arm in greeting. "Aphrodite came over you. Forget about it. I shouldn't have attacked a defenseless man... not that I'd ever call Caesar defenseless. Or a man." She sneered. "I'll never understand your taste in men, though."
"Xena, I think you understand the attraction very well."
Xena smiled sadly and shook her head. "I guess you're right. Just be careful. He's very dangerous."
"Don't worry. I know he is. But I can be dangerous, too. I'm just glad we straightened things out. We can be friends without agreeing on everything."
Ephiny put her arms around their shoulders. "Well, I'm glad that's settled."
Just then, KimD spotted Sinn and Dragonflyer leaving the Temple. "Hey!" She went after them, but it was too late. "I can't believe they left me to finish things up without as much as a good-bye! Sheesh!" She turned back from the door and ran into Cupid who was standing directly behind her.
He smiled down at her. "What do you think?"
"I think the party's over."
"So do I. It's late and we all need to get our rest so we can get up tomorrow and figure out how to go about helping Ped."
"What about what's going on with Ares?"
"Ares is not my concern."
"Well, he's mine. And Ped's disappearance may have something to do with what's happening with Hera."
Cupid put an arm around her shoulders. "True. And technically, Ped is Ares' problem more than mine, but I am concerned about her and will do anything to help find her." He then squeezed her shoulders. "Thanks for the great party. You, Sinn, and the others did a great job."
"You think it was great? I thought it was something of a mess."
"Did you have fun?"
"Yes, but..."
"No buts. I had fun too. And I think almost everyone else did too, so I'd say the party was a success. Now, you get back to your date." He rolled his eyes. "I can't believe he gets to enjoy the lovely outfit I picked out for you tonight."
KimD grinned at the sexy blond god. "I'll wear it again for you tomorrow night if you'd like."
"I'd like." He kissed her. "Get going, and I'll end the party." He walked into the middle of the room and clapped his hands. "Sorry everyone! It's late and a situation has developed. I'm gonna have to say, party's over! Thank you all for coming, and I hope you come to the next one, too!"
On her way back to Caesar, Heph stopped Kim. "I want to apologize for putting you in that situation with Aphrodite."
Kim smiled and squeezed his arm. "It's OK. It was kind of fun."
He gave her a kiss on cheek. "Tonight certainly was interesting, wasn't it?"
Suddenly, Kim couldn't wait to get back to Caesar. She returned Heph's kiss on the cheek. "Heph, I'm sorry, I have to go. Have a good night. I'll talk to you later." She took off. Hephaestus looked after her in surprise at her abrupt departure, then turned around to see Aphrodite watching KimD's retreat with an evil glint in her eye."
"Dite! What did you do?"
"Chill Hephie, it'll only be for tonight. She'll be fine tomorrow. I just want you all to myself tonight."
"It wasn't her fault..."
"Yeah, yeah, I know... you wanted to make me jealous. I'll forgive her ...and you... this time." She pulled Heph towards her and they both vanished.
Caesar turned back towards the room at the same time Kim was making her way back. Now Destine was talking to his back. KimD ran up to him and gave him a big hug and kiss. Caesar whispered hotly in her ear, "we need to go... now."
"I agree." Kim took his hand and they turned back towards Destine and Sinbad. "We're going to go. You two have a good night."
Sinbad held out his hand, "Nice to meet you..."
At the same time Destine was saying, "good-bye..."
But KimD and Caesar were gone.
