"Perfect!" KimD patted the last of the chest hair in place and stepped back to admire her work. He was as almost as tall as Ares, and though his eyes were slightly lighter, between the leather, goatee, and new hairdo, it was obvious who he was supposed to be. She played with the medallion and then made her way up to the earring dangling from his ear. "You even got your ear pierced. You never fail to amaze me."
"It'll grow closed again. And what do you mean by that?"
She ran her fingers through his chest hair. "Well, Julius, darling, you do come across as somewhat stuffy and uptight, even anal..."
"...*but* then you do something like this, or like at the masquerade ball when you dressed as Cupid, and completely cut loose. I like it."
"I'm glad you approve."
"Speaking of Cupid, did I ever mention you two really..."
"Yes! You've mentioned it several times, but he has blond hair and I have black!"
"Well, aside from the obvious hair color thing... Anyway," she wrapped her arms around his waist, "You often surprise me when you act unlike the stuffy Caesar everyone knows. Remember the first time we met? When you climbed through my window hoping to speak with Ares? Or when we had to search the Temple for you and we found you..."
He put her hand over her mouth. "Yes I remember. Let's not go there. Let's go to the party."
KimD smiled. "I'm ready if you are."
Caesar crooked his arm in her direction and she took it. They left the room and made their way to the main hall. When they entered it got somewhat quiet and much of the room looked their way. It took several people to even recognize Kim at first.
Ares paused his dance with Zelena. He excused himself, and as the room watched, he made his way over, looking both KimD and Caesar up and down. He raised his eyebrow. "Is this supposed to be some sort of commentary on my relationship with the Furies?"
KimD was taken aback at first, as the costumes had been chosen independently of each other, but when she realized what it looked like, she silently loved the idea. She grinned. "Perhaps. Perhaps, not." She ran a finger down Ares' sideburn. "And who are you supposed to be this evening? Hmm. Let me guess... you're Ares, the god of war! Am I right? Oh, how very, very original."
Ares shook his head, and then grinned. He leaned in until their faces were but an inch apart. "Maybe I will still put on a costume. By the way, you look fabulous tonight. Save me a dance." He kissed her on the nose and went to resume his dance with Zelena.
When Julius saw some of the Priestesses heading over to talk to Kim, he excused himself to get them drinks.
Sinn got there first. "Oh my Cupid! Your hair!"
"How did you know Cupid cut it?"
Sinn's eyes got wide. "I didn't!"
Dragonflyer heard the comment as she approached. "He better keep his day job."
KimD pretended to pout. "You don't like my haircut?"
"No, that's not it. It looks good on you. But it's.... it's not for everybody."
Sinn put her arm through Kim's. "I like it, it's just so drastic. It'll take getting used to..."
Kiari walked up and tugged slightly on the hair. "So it's yours and not a wig! I can't believe that after all that time you spent growing that color out that you'd do it again! Not that I don't like it. It's really cool! I'm just surprised."
"Trust me, I was surprised when I let him do it, too."
Just then, Zelena, her dance with Ares finished, walked up and added, "By the way, aren't you cold?"
"Not at all. I'm usually feeling very warm by the end of the night at these parties. Not surprising considering the guests we invite." She looked over Sinn's shoulder. "Speaking of hot..." She reached up and took the glass Caesar offered as he walked up behind Sinn. She sniffed it. "What is it?"
She grinned evilly. "Yum. *Our* drink. Hand me the salt big guy."
This was the Priestesses' cue to go greet Ped who had just walked through the door.
